2021 Chardonnay Concrete
Chablis-like but less acidic, we’ve been told by the experts. Green apples, citrus fruits, honeysuckle, cream and a characteristic stony, smoky minerality. Fermented and aged in a special concrete egg shaped tank that duplicates the ancient stone vats of Europe. Majestic, dignified, almost theologically mysterious.

Chardonnay Shores Vineyard. Dirt consits of gravel, loam, clay, iron and field stone granite.
Allen and Bonnie Modroo moved to the shores of Grand Traverse 25 years ago from Montana. Their desire was to own a cherry orchard on the bay. This was accomplished. Eight years ago they decided to replant with Chardonnay grapes on this Leelanau terroir. This proved to be a wise decision as this land produces a bountiful crop while providing hours of enjoyment while tending the vines.
